The August 1971 calendar of events for the Inn of the Beginning, 8201 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, CA 94931, shows The New Riders of the Purple Sage playing there on Friday, August 20, 1971 and Saturday, August 21, 1971. These dates are not presently at the Jerry Site.

I am not in a position to blog extensively about this, but I think it’s really interesting. Feel free to discuss in my absence of another 5 days or so.

    8/21/71 is the putative date of the "Mickey's Barn" show which also
    included Garcia and, I believe, at least one or two other New Riders.
    Maybe it occurred after the Inn of the Beginning show (or was attributed to the wrong date?).

    I find it perfectly plausible that they played around in the barn during the afternoon and gigged later that night up the road from Novato in Cotati.

    LIA, I think, has pointed out that on the 8/21/71 Hart's Barn tape Garcia takes his leave, saying he has to go play somewhere. We presume he is referring to this Saturday gig at the Inn.
