Both fragments are the song English Country Garden, it's an English folk song that was popularized by Percy Grainger.

I am so grateful for this – thank you, thank you!

Ahhh, and this is fun – he also does it 6/23/79 early after "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game", around 5:17 of track one on the early show fragment recently circulated by Alan Bershaw, shnid-149120.

Glad I could help. I think you have to be "of a certain age" to have that song embedded in your subconscious. I can't remember all the places I heard it but Captain Kangaroo was certainly one place.

Well, I saw the Captain toward the tail end of his run, I imagine (70s), and of course the same Looney Tunes and all that. So so many of these things feel utterly familiar, but were pure background.
