It seems that the MTV Video Music Awards were held that day: 9/13/85 at Radio City Music Hall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_MTV_Video_Music_Awards,

Fascinating. My puzzlement has to do with never having heard of this particular gig. I assume this ticket is a forgery, but who knows?

if I am reading the ticket correctly, it suggests that Jerry and Dave will "Celebrate the 4 Seasons," so that means "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," 'Walk Like A Man" and many more. Oh, what a night…

To be so humorous around it implies to me that you understand what it is. What is it? What I mean to say is, how did this image come to be? Of what is it an instance?

The thing that strikes me is the price: $38.50 in 1985 was pretty much outrageous for a concert. Most Dead tickets that I've seen from 1985 have a top price of $15.00. If this is a forgery, then they forgot to take inflation into account. If it's real, then it must have been something incredibly special (a benefit?).

"unfortunately it's a fake … never happened …never planned …never even spoken about…. have to say I wish it had been real …would have been some music going on"

Thanks, Steve and Croz. Solves the question of what this image is, but not why it is!

Indeed.
